Places to visit around St. Anton
Tips for your summer holiday on the Arlberg
Near the border between Tyrol and Vorarlberg, you have easy access to sightseeing destinations in both provinces. Discover Innsbruck, follow in the footsteps of Oetzi the Iceman, feast your way through the Bregenzerwald or immerse yourself in the natural landscape of passes, glaciers and artificial lakes.
Innsbruck – the capital of Tyrol
Just 60 minutes away, the cultural and political centre of the region is also one of the most beautiful cities in the Alps, surrounded by mountains and with many sporting facilities and sightseeing opportunities both in and around the city. Take a stroll through the historic city centre and past the world-famous Golden Roof, visit one of the many museums, take a cable railway ride up the Nordkette mountain range or visit the Bergisel.
Swarovski Crystal Worlds
75 minutes away: the Swarovski crystal workshop has become a landmark in Wattens, near Innsbruck, and the Crystal Worlds are an unmissable highlight. Venture into the giant's mouth to see for yourself.
Bregenzerwald – the Cheese Road
80 minutes away: the Bregenzerwald is an exemplary cheese region. You can sample the robust Vorarlberg cheeses at a number of stops along the "road", from farm gates and dairies to exhibition cheese factories. You probably already know how fantastic the cheese tastes, but after a tour of the Bregenzerwald you will understand why and develop a whole new appreciation for the region's dairy product.
Duty-free shopping in the border town of Samnaun
Just 65 minutes away is Samnaun, a Swiss town near the three-way border between Austria, Switzerland and Italy, which boasts an extensive range of duty-free shopping opportunities. If you are looking for that special something, you're sure to find it in this mountain town.
Discover the Ötz valley
You can reach the Ötz valley in about 40 minutes. Pay a visit to the Ötzi village, scene of the sensational discovery of an ancient Alp-dweller and revelations about his lifestyle. Further along the valley, you can get quite close to the glacier and even take the railway up to the Tiefenbach, 3,250m above sea-level.
Bregenz and Lake Constance
Just 70 minutes away is the festival city of Bregenz on Lake Constance. Take a walk around Vorarlberg's capital city, visit the world-famous festival with its enormous lake stage or spend a delightful day swimming in the enormous lake. Expeditions to Lindau, a boat trip to Constance, or the flower island of Mainau are also experiences to be recommended.
